Transform everyday stress into well-being
by moving with beauty.

The Movement-based Mindfulness experience is instructed by Heather Vaughan-Southard and uses therapeutic pilates and somatic dance to create a grounding sense in one’s body and offer tools for authentic expression through movement as we process life’s rich patterns. Join us to connect with yourself, to others, and to the human experience. Bodies and movers of all kinds and levels encouraged.

Movement-based Mindfulness invites participants to befriend their bodies and use movement to improve their quality of life. The class features mindfulness to increase self-awareness and compassion, therapuetic pilates and somatic dance practices toimprove physicality and spatial awareness, and dynamic practice in which movement is used to develop empowerment, expression, and non-verbal communication. The class draws from multiple movement modalities and the creative process.

For the Movement-based Mindfulness private client, the movement experience is designed specifically for each person with resources and supports which reach beyond the face-to-face session.

The Movement-based Mindfulness program is designed by movement and pedagogy specialist, Heather Vaughan-Southard. With over 20 years of teaching experience indiverse settings, from public schools to colleges and universities, she has developed effective strategies for helping people coping with pain, anxiety, stress, mobility limitations, chronic illness, and trauma.

As a creative trained in dance, with research in PTSD and movement literacies, Heather has both applied critical and aesthetic processes to her work and teaching, offering unique experience for clients. She teaches clients how to use movement to regulate physical and emotional responses, build strength and range of motion, and flexibility of character.
